Boston TERRORS
59My pet Penelope
I am writing about my boston terrier named Penelope. You'll notice the title was "Boston Terror" which has many reasons.
That's my nickname for her but I love herto death and would never trade her for anything.
Life with a Penny is definitely interesting and challenging. I also have two dachshunds and a husky mix. Before Penny I thought the wieners dogs were a challenge.
Penny was shipped to me which I will never do again. It was so disorganized and she arrived a day early. I was at work and could not be reached so they drove on to their next destinatination. She spent six days in this vehicle and I highly doubt she had any time to run or even spend any time out of the cage.. She smelled like urine when she arrived.
Upon her arrival at 4 AM she was ready to meet her new family. She just tackled all the dogs and wanted to play. I should say she was from a litter of seven. She had six brothers.
Having Boston Terriers in my past I knew how intelligent they are but I had a hec of a time getting this dog to do anything. She was also a runner which scared me have to death when she'd get lose.
One day she took off and headed for the highway. I thought this is it. She's gone. Luckily a neighbor's big dog was tied out, starting barking and Penny immediately turned and came right back to me.
I was always one against shock collars but after that trick I went out and bought one. It was great because it had a beep button and a shock button. Once she learned the shock would follow the beep she'd listen before the shock came.
The funny thing is when I put that collar on her and gave her a little jolt, everything I ever told her to do, she'd do. This little rascal understood, sit, stay, come, etc. She just did not do it. The joke was on me. And still is I guess.
She is like my shadow except when I want her. Then it's a game of dodge and run. Talk about a mind of her own.
She is so wonderful with children though and when she wants to play they are ready. Gives me a break with grandchildren and dogs. She is a very loveable dog.
At 18 months her newest habit is pulling a plug out of an outlet THEN chewing it off. This animal has to know what she is doing or is pretty darn lucky. I fold my laundry and sit it on the dresser. Come back and it's flipped and unfolded. I've learned to put laundry away. I've learned to put everything away. Who is training who here?
It's like having a two year old around all the time. I know the other dogs appreciate if she has to take a break in her cage. We all love her but as I said, wouldn't trade her for anything. Can't say I don't think about it but I would never do it.

Slade a.k.a Stinky Butt a.k.a. Stinky Binky was the best dog i ever had. I loved that dog so much. He was the last Christmas gift my dad gave me before he dies. That dog meant so much to me, it was so hard losing him, and he was only 4 years old.
Thats a nice story we have a shih tzu and she is sassy but we love her. Penelope is so cute ,I would love to see more pictures of her.
I have 3 Boston Terrors. One has eaten a $250 ebay item, plus numerous lesser items, one is an escape artist who ate 10 inches of the bathroom door, and the other thinks he is king.

I had a Boston Terrier named Slade who passed away not too long ago. I miss him terribly, he was very dear to me. That dog was there with me through a lot of hard times. Penelope is a really pretty color.
